Yesterday, my teacher showed us a few videos from Nietzsche’s philosophy. According to wikipedia, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was a German philosopher, prose poet, cultural critic, philologist, and composer whose work has exerted a profound influence on contemporary philosophy. He began his career as a classical philologist before turning to philosophy. One of his famous quotes that we all may have heard growing up, What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger and another one that I was introduced to by my teacher is the word, Amor Fati, which basically means, “The attitude of loving your fate.” To love and accept the way this life is unfolding in front of you beyond your absolute control. It’s a beautiful quote to live by. Because no matter how much you try to control things, and want things to be a certain way, you realise you actually have very little control, so rather the best way is to let things unfold the way they’re meant to. Don’t push and pull and always want things to move a certain way, this is only going to cause you pain and suffering. Instead be a free flowing river, flow from left to right, top to bottom, just free flow your way through life and see the magic. Trust the process. Trust that whatever is happening is for your greatest good, even though you may not see it now or feel it now but eventually it will all make sense. There will come a time when you will be able to connect all the dots and see why you went through what you did, why certain things happened the way they did and it will all make complete sense. So, then what should you do? Just be. Just pause. Be patient as life is unraveling in front of you. Look at it from a distance and don’t get caught up in the drama. Stand a few feet away from it and just be the observer. From this point, everything is fine. Everything is in its place. Nothing is out of place.

So, the next time you feel like controlling a situation, catch yourself right there and remember this quote, Amor Fati, the attitude of loving your fate beyond your absolute control.
Love & Blessings,
