Yesterday, my teacher, Nithya Shanti had a session on blessings. I was out at a birthday party while the call started but I still decided to join the call. And even though there was a lot of noise from the kids, I tuned in to what he was saying, and I could hear him bless everything. He said look around, there are a few people on this call, or around you who are going through a difficult time. The story of their life is a bit shaky, either emotionally, financially, spiritually, or just plain shaky. So bless these people. My teacher has a favorite quote, “May I be a channel of blessings for someone today”. He actually sings it. It’s beautiful. He says, its a nice practice to start your day with this affirmation. So, as he kept naming different things and blessing it and blessing all of us, I was a bit scared. So many blessings? Will these blessings be taken away from me? Am I going to go back to the person I used to be? It’s scary to be that person. Can you go back to who you were? Not sure why but it scared me. And so as I got into my car and started to drive, the blessings only got bigger and wider and so intense. My teacher went onto say that blessings will operate in a way, which we don’t really understand. If you get what you want, that’s good and if you don’t get what you want, that’s also very good. Why? Because there is a higher intelligence operating there, which you don’t know. Nothing is out of place even if your ego mind is screaming and telling you everything is out of place. Your whole life has been worthwhile and will continue to be. The mind doesn’t have the full picture. When we bless others, we bless ourselves. So, you be the blessing, become the channel of blessings, any blessing for your family, friends, your society, city, or the world at large. Blessings can be far and wide and deep. Such a beautiful session that made me feel so loved and so special even though for most of the session we were channeling blessings to the outside and then slowly we channeled the blessings to parts of ourselves inward, like anger, love, greed, jealousy, pride, sadness, fear, blessing all these parts of ourselves, to make us more accepting of our flaws, so we move beyond these identities we hold onto so tightly.

My teacher loves to give us homework and I love homework. So, a few months back he asked us to write a 108 different ways to infinitely bless everything around you. He ended the session by saying, Bless the living daylight out of everyone. I loved this line! Such a powerful line. Become such a wide, open, deep channel that you infinitely bless the living daylights out of everyone.
